High Alpine Meadows

Alpe di Siusi is the largest high alpine meadow in Europe. When we arrived in mid-June the flowers were in bloom and the meadows were covered in white, yellow, and pink blossoms. Cows roam freely and you can hear the sound of their bells tinkling over the hillsides.

Access to the meadow is via Gondola. We reccommend you make sure to keep track of the last return trip time. #WeMadeItButWeRanABit

Alpine Huts

After tourism, dairy is the next biggest industry in Alpe di Siusi. Durring the summer months cows roam the meadow grazing while farmers work making fresh cheeses and yogurts. Little huts dot the hills selling fresh meats and cheeses, and of course beer. We even found a little fridge full of fresh yogurts with a pay box on top so that passersby could make purchases while the farmer was away.

Happy to report that my sister can now check "spinning in a gorgeous alpine meadow" off her bucket list.
